Department for Microbiology

At Alfalah Lahore Lab, the Bacteriology Department offers comprehensive testing services, including aerobic culture identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing for a variety of specimens. Our bacterial identification and susceptibility testing is conducted using a fully automated and rapid system that leverages advanced colorimetry for high accuracy. This system provides superior discrimination between bacterial species, minimizes errors, and reduces the need for offline tests. With our cutting-edge technology, we ensure speed, accuracy, and reproducibility in every test result.

Our Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) follows CLSI guidelines, delivering Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) results for a wide range of bacteria, including both slow-growing and fastidious organisms. This allows for precise evaluation of antibiotic effectiveness against aerobic bacteria, aiding in targeted and effective treatment.

Blood and Body Fluid Cultures

We use an automated continuous-monitoring system for blood and body fluid cultures, equipped with fluorescent sensor technology. This system ensures full automation, continuously agitating and incubating blood culture bottles, leading to quicker detection of bacterial growth. This innovation enhances performance, safety, and reliability, providing earlier identification of infections.

Mycology Testing

Our Mycology Department offers cultures for routine body specimens as well as specialized testing for dermatophytic infections from skin, hair, and nails. These tests help in the accurate identification and treatment of fungal infections.

Parasitology Testing

We also provide advanced parasitology services, including macroscopic and microscopic fecal examination for the detection of eggs and cysts of digestive tract parasites. Our testing includes concentration techniques and fixed fecal smears, ensuring thorough and accurate diagnostics.

Alfalah Lahore Lab is dedicated to delivering precise, reliable, and timely diagnostics, utilizing state-of-the-art technology to meet the needs of healthcare providers and patients alike
